Rules of the Adventure

The Rules

In the interest of realism, some rules are necessary to establish the degree of realism and keep me honest as I go.

Simulator
- max realism sliders in the sim but not above acceptable frame rates
- no time acceleration.
- ATC might be used... depends on the mood I'm in that day
- AI traffic will be on to keep it interesting
- random failures are turned off, but A2A failures may occur (e.g. fouled plugs)

Aircraft
- Using A2A aircraft, such as C182, registration CF-KTH
- Only permitted to refuel at an aerodrome (e.g. no unlimited fuel or refueling in the air)
- any damage that is repairable will be repaired (e.g. rough landing, successful forced landing, etc.)
- 'fatal' crashes will end the tour (e.g. smokey hole in mountain side, stall/spin into ground... RIP)
- Reality XP GNS530 or Flight 1 GTN750 will be used to it's maximum potential for IFR flight
- pausing is permitted for screenshots

Weather
- Real world weather using ActiveSky, including winds aloft and icing

Flight Planning
- SkyVector will be used for flight planning
- Each leg must start and end at an aerodrome (e.g. no in-flight saving)
- VFR flights when weather well above VMC, otherwise IFR
- Low-altitude airways will be used when reasonably available on the route
- Approach procedures and plates will be used when available and necessary
- Plan-G or Tramp will not be used for location awareness, only the GNS530/GTN750 will be used for this purpose

Record-keeping
The following will usually be recorded:
- Block time
- fuel used
- distance flown (as per SkyVector flightplan)
- departure METAR (ASN)
- arrival METAR (ASN)
- SkyVector screenshot
- departure screenshot
- arrival screenshot
- general journal notes

Introduction

Introduction

The objective of this project is to fly around the world using Microsoft FSX or P3D and A2A's GA airplanes. The adventure will start at CYBW and proceed down the west side of the Americas, back up the east side, hop over to Europe, across to Asia, and back across the Bearing Strait to home.

The journey started on February 27, 2015.

Goals

- have fun
- maximum realism
- no serious mishaps
- journal as I go
- inspire other virtual aviators to set and achieve fun goals

Mission Aviation Fellowship

This adventure is also a fundraiser.  Every hour on the Hobbs meter will result in a $1 donation to Mission Aviation Fellowship.  The Hobbs will be reset to zero before I begin the Tour.
